March 12, 1934 – March 20, 2021
Alvin L. Feaster, age 87 of Poway, CA passed away at his home on March 20, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Alvin was born to parents Jesse and Alberta (Bybee) Feaster in Windsor, MO. He moved with his family to Los Angeles, CA and later settled in the city of Fontana, CA., where he attended elementary, middle school and Chaffey High School.
Alvin enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 in 1952 where he served twenty years. The majority of his career was spent on submarines with multiple long deployments on the USS Pomfort, Redfish, Bugara, Remora and he was the Chief of the Boat on the USS Carbonero. Alvin became an instructor at Naval Training Center in San Diego, CA before retiring on September 16, 1974 as Senior Chief Petty Officer. After retirement Alvin attended San Diego City College and started a second career as a machinist and worked at MJL Machine for twenty-eight years.
Alvin was very intelligent, an avid reader and enjoyed discussing history and politics. He taught himself the German language and enjoyed reading the Bible in German. He was an expert machinist and talented fabricator who could design and build anything. He played high school football and was a life long USC football fan. He was a gun enthusiast and ranked as a Double A Skeet Shooter at Hickman Field in Hawaii. Alvin was happiest skeet and target shooting with his son, Mark and his grandchildren.
Alvin will be sorely missed by his wife, children and grandchildren who take comfort in knowing that Alvin believed in Jesus Christ and is now in Heaven with his parents and brother.Alvin is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ona Feaster, son Mark Feaster (Teresa), daughters Greta Davila (Ruben) and Heidi Isenberg (Mark), five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Alvin was predeceased by his parents Jesse and Alberta Feaster and brother Wayne Feaster.
A private memorial service will be held on April 14, 2021 at Miramar National Cemetery.
