Barbara Ann Krainock POWAY – Barbara Ann Krainock born December 2, 1931, passed away peacefully at home on Holy Saturday, April 20, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was 87 years old. She is survived by 9 of her 10 children; Mary Davis, Joe Krainock Jr., Mike Krainock, Steve Krainock, Amy Newton, Barbara Ristrim, Kathy Krainock, Karen Kirkman & John Krainock. Grandchildren Molly Nichelson, Cara McDermott, Eric Olson, Kelcy Sutton, Whitney Krainock, Kyle Krainock, Cody Krainock, Kayla Krainock, Cameron Krainock & Chloe Krainock. Great grandchildren Nathan McDermott, Elise Olson, Poppy Krainock, Cole Sutton and Shay Sutton. Preceded in death by her father Walter Burcher, mother(s) Sarah Burcher & Louise Burcher, sister Mary Ellen Bahl, brother Walter Burcher, husband Joseph Krainock and her daughter Sarah Nichelson. Barbara was born in Denver Colorado and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 – 1953. Barbara met her husband Joseph Krainock at Camp LeJeune. Barbara & Joseph married in San Francisco on November 27, 1952. Barbara worked as a Nurse's Aide from 1948 – 1950 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles. After moving to Poway in 1972, Barbara worked as a Nurses Aide at Palomar Hospital in Escondido and Pomerado Hospital in Poway. After retiring from nursing, Barbara worked part time for Chaparral Elementary School in Poway in the ESS program. Barbara was a devout Catholic and adored the Blessed Mother. There will be a funeral Mass held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 13734 Twin Peaks Road, Poway CA 92064 , on Friday May 10 at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the Poway VFW Post 7907, 12342 Old Pomerado Rd. Poway CA 92064 from 11:30am – 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Alzheimer's San Diego (alzsd.org) in the name of Barbara Krainock, or Kaiser Permanente Hospice, 10992 San Diego Mission Rd., San Diego CA 92108. "May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."
