Dudgeon
February 10, 1945 – July 5, 2024
Betsie Anne Dudgeon (née Kramp), aged 79, passed away on July 5, 2024, in San Diego, California. Born on February 10, 1945, in Newburgh, New York, Betsie moved through life with a nurturing spirit and an enduring passion for family and community.
In 1963, Betsie graduated from Bay Village High School in Ohio, and later, she furthered her education at Evanston Hospital School of Nursing and Saint Anthony College of Nursing. Her professional life also included a significant tenure with Dickerson Nieman Realtors, where her dedication and work ethic were highly valued.
A loving wife and true companion to Thomas Dudgeon and a cherished mother to Isaac "Ike" Trejo, Tracey Trejo Freeman, Jennifer (Thomas Jeffrey) Trejo Schaefer, and her stepchildren Scott (Heidi) and Matt (Jenny) Dudgeon. Betsie's warmth and generosity extended well beyond her immediate family. She was a proud Nana to Chili, Jack, Audrey, Ben, Wyatt, Merritt, Brodie, Liam, and Quinn. Betsie was preceded in death by her parents, John A. "Jack" and Novella Kramp.
Betsie's zest for life was apparent in her numerous activities and hobbies. She was actively involved in the Rockford Women's Club, Junior League of Rockford, Winnebago County Medical Society Women's Auxiliary, the Rockford Guilford High School Booster Club, and Wine Club. In 2013, after retiring with her husband Tom and relocating to beautiful Rancho Bernardo, California, she continued her community engagement with the Rancho Belles. Betsie and Tom loved attending live performing arts and cultural events, and were quite an entertaining duo who loved hosting family and friends. Betsie had a witty and wicked sense of humor and her laugh was contagious. She was also known for her love of family traditions, including her extraordinary holiday decorations, and her exceptional culinary skills. Her family recipes will remain a treasured legacy.
An ardent traveler, Betsie particularly enjoyed cruising as well as exploring new cultures and cuisines. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Forest Hills Country Club, Rockford Marlins and Guilford High School Swim Teams, as well as the Guilford High School Valkyries and Pom Pon squads, and she was often seen cheering from the stands.
Services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery, where Betsie will be remembered and celebrated for her enduring influence and the love she shared with all who knew her.
