Beverly Elaine
Andreos
September 18, 1934 – June 8, 2024
Beverly E. Andreos was born September 18, 1934 in Malden, Massachusetts. During her upraising, she lived in many states as her father was enlisted in the US Navy. After graduating high school in Braintree, Mass, she moved to San Diego in 1953, and obtained a job at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Bean. She began as a Board Marker and was promoted to various positions until ultimately becoming a Stock Broker.
Beverly married George in 1965. They began a family in Clairemont. In 1976, Beverly and the family moved to Poway. She immediately became involved with the community and particularly loved her 4-H activities. In 1984, Beverly graduated from Palomar Jr. College with an AA Degree. In 1985, Beverly created For Parents' and Kids' Sake, a non-profit child abuse prevention organization. After 13 years she stepped down as Executive Director. In 1989, Beverly received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Psychology from SDSU.
Beverly continued to be active. She volunteered at Meadowbrook Middle School as a mentor for children, and was a member of the League of Women Voters. She was also involved in Soroptimist International of Poway – Desert Coast Region and fulfilled the presidency position 2002-2003.
Beverly also served 13 years on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled, and President in 2002. Beverly was also a co-founder of Parent Advocates Seeking Solutions, a non-profit organization dedicated to support and provide resources for parents and caregivers who have adult children with disability needs. Beverly remained as Chair for over 17 years. Beverly also coached the Special Olympics swim team.
Beverly was a long member of the Community Church of Poway. She received many awards and certificates of appreciations for her contributions to the community. Beverly loved swimming, cooking and gardening. She loved reading, and knitting and listening to music around the house.
Beverly remained married to her late husband George for 49 years. She is survived by her four children, Leslie Sharpe, Linda Delong, Darin Andreos, and Craig Andreos, as well as seven grandchildren, Alexa, Nick, Ryan Makenzie, Lindsay, Charlie and Junior, along with one great-grandchild, Morgan.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 7, at 11:00am at the Community Church of Poway.
