Beverly Ann
Lussier
May 28, 1943 – April 26, 2023
Beverly Ann Lussier (Karam) 79, was called safely home to the Lord in Heaven on April 26, 2023 with her loving family at her side after a courageous and hard fought struggle with leukemia. She was a fighter until the end and never gave up. Beverly was born on May 28, 1943 in Springfield, MA to the late Assad John Karam and Mantoura Mary Dahdah. Her siblings are the late Edward Joseph Karam (called home to Heaven as a baby) and Richard Joseph Karam. Beverly was a dedicated wife for over 52 years to the late George Victor Lussier. She was the proud mother of two children (Marc Michael Lussier and Michele Ann Fox), a son-in-law (Robert Fox who was a true 2nd son and called her Mom) and grandmother to two grandsons (Ryan Isaac Lussier and Nicholas David Fox) and one step granddaughter (Ashley Rose Goldman). She also leaves behind numerous cousins and extended family and friends from near and afar. Beverly grew up in a strong Maronite Catholic family, based out of Saint Anthony's Church in Springfield, MA. Her faith was a constant source of strength, patience, love and compassion throughout her life, to both family and friends alike. She graduated with honors from Agawam High School in 1961 and enjoyed those years with her friends while working at the Breck Shampoo Company. She met her future husband George on a blind date and they were married on April 5, 1964. She gave totally of herself to her husband, children and others which was a hallmark of her character that was driven by her tremendous faith in the Lord. Beverly and George moved to their beloved San Diego in 1994 and called it home for the remainder of their lives. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband and primary caregiver for his 22+ year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), and did so with compassion and unflinching dedication. She was also a dedicated and loving mother to her children and grandchildren and was always there to lend a hand, be there during the tough times, listen when an ear was needed, provide support when down or just giving a hug. Her attitude was that of total dedication to serving others and was a shining example of what a life well lived should be. She had a way of drawing you in and frequently people would say the felt like they knew her forever even though they just met. Her living did not end with her family, but extended to many others who needed it. She was especially proud of her efforts as a peer support mentor with the National VA Caregiver Peer Support Mentoring Program, where she made a true difference with her mentee's by being there and helping them through the tremendously tough time of caring for a loved ones with ALS or other diseases. She was a long time parishioner of The Immaculata Catholic Church in San Diego which became her spiritual home that supported her in good and bad times until the end of her life. She was also a true dog lover and was also dedicated to loving and caring for he beloved Smith and Remington who she lovingly just called "The Boys". She also loved her grandson Nick's service dog Phoebe, who gave her great comfort and love after The Boys passed until the end of her life. Her dog dedication led her and Michele being among the first volunteers for Paws for Purple Hearts which is an organization that trains service dogs and offers therapeutic intervention for Veteran and active duty personnel. She was one of the first volunteer for the San Diego Site as it opened its doors in 2016. Some of her favorite past times were being a mother, keeping connected and reminiscing with family and friends, walking and praying to all those near and dear to her heart, spending time with grandson and granddog, watching mass daily and EWTN, cooking Lebanese food, sharing and experimenting with recipes, decorating for the holidays especially at Christmas (her favorite holiday), volunteering her time and participating in many charity walks for causes near and dear to her heart with family, shopping and looking for a good bargain as she had a great eye for fashion and keeping as healthy as possible. Those who came in contact with Beverly were touched by her and better for it. Her life was a shining example of faith, love and giving. She is now in Heaven surrounded by family and friends, which is where her faith has led her throughout her entire life. She will be deeply missed but her memory and Legacy will live on until we are reunited with her in Heaven.
