Blendena 'Bea'
Duncan
May 2, 1931 – September 9, 2020
Blendena Louise Duncan peacefully lost her life to dementia on September 9, 2020. Bea was born in New York City ̶ the daughter of Lydia Patrick and James Johnson, who were immigrants from Jamaica. She graduated with a Master of Science and worked as a research scientist for many years at the Ciba-Geigy pharmaceutical company.
She married Oswald Duncan on February 2, 1957. Together they had three children, Bruce Duncan, Cheryl Duncan De Pinto, and Andrea Duncan. She became a stay at home mother, for several years, and enjoyed exposing her children to all the excitement that New York City has to offer: cultural institutions, Broadway shows, and all of the sights, sounds, smells & history of New York. She resumed her love of science when she returned to a career in the pharmaceutical industry, at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals.
Bea loved to travel, loved people (especially children & babies), and had a great sense of humor. She even took up painting over the last few years.
She will be mourned by not only her three children, but her two grandchildren, Daniel and Teresa De Pinto, and many neighbors, friends & caregivers who have supported her over the years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made. The family requests donations be made to Alzheimers San Diego. Donations may be made at the link below:Poway-Bernardo Mortuary
