Brigida "Bidang" Leonardo died peacefully on January 11, 2023, surrounded by a family who loved her deeply. Born in the Philippines on October 8, 1923 as the youngest of two children, Bidang aspired to one day lead a large family of her own. Together with Jesus "Solis" Leonardo, her husband of 54 years until his passing in 2006, she served as a true matriarch to their brood of six children, twenty grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren. A resourceful and determined woman, she started and managed multiple businesses to support her family. She gave herself fully to her family providing them spiritual and emotional leadership throughout her 99 years of life. Up until her last days, she dispensed astute advice to her children and grandchildren on a wide range of issues addressing how to live virtuous lives, maintain strong relationships, and succeed in the workplace. In turn, she had family members from across the globe – the Philippines, Australia, Japan, Canada, and the East Coast of the United States – visiting her frequently in San Diego to show their love and gain more pearls of wisdom. Her strength and wisdom live on now in her bountiful offspring.
