Bruce Clifford
Rehnberg
September 30, 1955 – December 26, 2023
Bruce C. Rehnberg, 68, passed suddenly at his residence in San Diego, CA on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was born in Cook County, Illinois on September 30, 1955. Survived by his wife of 29 precious years, Vivian Martinez Rehnberg, sister Jane Lamb (Bruce Lamb) of Fort Collins, Colorado, Predeceased parents Rose and Clifford Rehnberg.
His family moved to Evansville, Indiana from Chicago where Bruce spent his early years fishing, swimming, hunting and driving a tractor. The local kids would head over to an empty field across the road to play baseball, using rocks for bases and a trail of dogs, cats, goats and chickens following behind. He was a Boy Scout and completed as an Eagle Scout.
Bruce graduated with a Masters Degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1979 where he studied Computer Science and Business Administration. He had a pet turtle while living in the dorm.
He was employed by NCR Corporation for 36 years, he started in the Midwest and eventually NCR Corporation moved him to San Diego where he retired as a Director of Research and Development in Information Technology at the Rancho Bernardo facility.
He made many life long friends across the country.
Bruce loved riding his Honda ATC and dirt bike in the desert. Later, he traded those in for a more comfortable Toyota Truck for rock crawling. He looked good riding the Harley Davidson motorcycle, setting off every car alarm as he rode out of the neighborhood. Bruce enjoyed riding his Zodiac out to Catalina Island and water skiing behind it on Mission Bay.
Bruce was a gentleman, very smart, and always made people laugh. He had an unwavering dedication and passion for his work and was always supportive to his team in every way. His commitment to excellence was evident as he obtained a patent for a software application for NCR.
Bruce leaves behind many dear friends and family that made his life fun, rich and fulfilling just as he did theirs.
Bruce was retired for 10 years and he enjoyed staying in contact with former co-workers, listening to music, going on road trips, building a model train track and spoiling his wife, making her belly laugh every day with his dry humor and quick wit. 29 years with Bruce was nothing but fun and some naughty behavior along the way. Entertaining, outrageous, and colorful to the outside world, he was also thoughtful, humble and shy at times.
Bruce will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
