Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Potter, age 82, who passed away on December 19 in Murrieta, CA.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carol Ann was born and raised in Meridian, MS and grew up in a family of professional baseball players, including her father James "Skeeter" Webb and grandfather Steve O'Neill.  After meeting the love of her life, Tracy, the Navy took them to San Diego where they settled in and raised their family.

Throughout her life she dedicated herself to her family, ensuring that her home was a place of love and security. She was a nurturing, yet firm, mother who devoted herself to her children's lives in every way.  She was a woman of strength, surviving polio at a young age, and was known for her loyalty, honesty, and integrity.  After losing her beloved husband much too soon, she gave back to her community, donating time as a Eucharistic minister, teaching CCD, and volunteering with hospice patients.  Most important to her was to be surrounded by family and a close-knit circle of friends.

Carol Ann is survived by her brother Bobby and sister Pam; four children and their spouses: Lori & Jim Martindale; Lee & Salena Potter; Doug & Mary Potter; and Debbie & Mat Zaitz. Nine grandchildren: Taylor Martindale (& David) Kean; Perrin Martindale; Ainsley Potter; Elena Potter; Christian Beard; Tracy James Potter II (TJ); Jake Potter; Hanna Zaitz; and Gracie Zaitz. Two great-grandchildren: Lainey James Kean and Rebecca Ryan Kean; along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tracy James Potter; and her brother, James ("Skeets") Webb.

A Funeral Mass will be held at San Rafael Catholic Church on Friday, December 27 at 10:30 AM, followed by a lunch reception at the San Rafael Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to stjude.org/give or endpolio.org .
