CLEO EDNA SHURTS went to be with the Lord in her new home in
Heaven. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, she was 95 years young. Cleo was
a San Diego native born to Cole Francis Thomas and Jessie Edna
Sparks. In her early years her parents moved to various locations in
Arizona, including Phoenix, but has lived most of her life here in San
Diego.
Cleo earned an AA degree in Electronic Technology, worked for
Burroughs and retired from Unisys, then went on to work for RVA Co.
in Escondido until she was 78 years of age.
She was an avid hiker, gardener, enjoyed reading, loved her family
and her church at Cornerstone where, throughout the years she
served, in many areas including the Choir, Deaconess for ten years,
Mission Board, Nursery, Greeter, she also provided flowers from her
yard every Sunday for the podium in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Cleo enjoyed traveling with family and friends in the states as well as
in Europe, Hawaii and Thailand. She enjoyed taking family
sightseeing in her VW camper van, making many memories for her
grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family; son, Terry Shurts,
daughters, Jana Ketchum(David), and Mary McDowell(Wes).

Great Grandchildren; Tanya Munoz(Zonar), Holly Aluni(Randy),
Natalie Giles, Elana Johnson, Marissa Alonso(Jonathan), Shane
Davis(Brandi).
Great Great Grandchildren; Ayana and Chandreau Munoz, Nonu,
Malosi, Samoana & Sephina Aluni, Jaden and Isaiah Prater, Llewyn &
Ira Johnson, Brantly Davis.
