Sylvia Soutzos Pyle was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 5, 1937.  She lived in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Singer Island, Florida retiring in Indian Wells, California. She graduated with honors from the University of Mary Washington and passionately taught school in Stafford County, Virginia at Drew Middle School. She was married to her beloved Arnold Pyle who preceded her in death.  She is survived by her two children Stephen Zapantis Jr. and his husband David Hughey of Seattle, WA; daughter Joyia Greenfield and her husband Bruce Lorber of Poway, CA; as well as her two grandchildren Kate Greenfield Evans and her husband Kenny of San Marcos, CA and Christopher Greenfield of Escondido, CA. She was preceded by her step-son Jimmy Pyle ( Taryn ) survived by her step-daughter April Davin ( Lance ), step-son David Pyle, step-grandchildren Sarah Nethery ( Jarret ), Arienne Davin, Brandon Davin (Tracy), step-great grandchildren Ainsley, Nolan, Harrison and Lex.

Viewing will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 12-1pm with a service beginning at 1pm at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary, 13243 Poway Road, Poway, CA 92064. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Miramar National Cemetery.
