Edward E. Thompson, 71 of Poway, California formerly of Morgantown WV passed away at home peacefully January 20, 2020. He was surrounded by loving family. He was born April 19, 1948 in Morgantown and was a United States Marine Corp veteran. He is survived by his fiancé Linda Silverthorn and her children Linette Silverthorn, Lindsey and husband Bob Thomas and Nicholas Minter.

Edward is also survived by his three children Edward A Thompson and wife Debra Thompson of Sandy, Utah; Maria and husband Matthew Ceglie of Poway, California and Jason Thompson and fiancé Heather Moore of Morgantown, West Virginia and all his grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers Richard Thompson and wife Pam of Elwood City, Pa and Marty Thompson and wife Connie of El Paso, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary "Penny" Duffer Thompson and his sister Sue Blosser. He spent most of his life in the mining industry in West Virginia. In California he and his son Jason owned and operated a pool business.

He enjoyed fishing, watching Gunsmoke, football and baseball. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren. He was a great cook and gardener. He was kind, gracious, funny, flirtatious and welcomed everyone into his life. He loved whole heartedly.  He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary 13243 Poway Road, Poway, California at 11am, Tuesday, February 18, 2020. He will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery at 1:30pm with military honors.
