February 24, 1949 – March 14, 2019
George Kitsios, born on February 24, 1949, in Paralia Katerinis, Greece, to Sophia and Vasili Kitsios, passed away from lung cancer at the age of 70 on March 14, 2019 in San Marcos, California.
George served in the Greek Navy from 1971 to 1973 and worked as an electrician, painter, fisherman, and restaurant owner in Greece. He left Greece with his wife and two eldest daughters seeking the American dream. He had a third daughter in America.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Nickolas Kitsios; and sister, Smaroula Samaras.
George is survived by his wife, Katherine Kitsios, daughters, Sophia Gonzalez, Jenny Haramis, and Zoe Kitsios; and brothers, Constantine Kitsios, Theodore Kitsios, and Michael Kitsios, grandchildren;Georgio,Katherine, Christina, Alexander, Panos, Kalliope.
George had a passion for food and devoted his life to feeding people. He showed his love through pallets of strawberries, fists full of spaghetti, mountains of sausages, countless roasted lambs, and always made sure that no one left hungry. Despite the struggle of living with cancer, George remained in good spirits, always generous and quick to share a meal and a laugh. His finals days were spent surrounded by many family and friends, a testament to the lives he has touched.
