Gerald L. Ness Obituary (1943-2021) Poway California

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gerald L. Ness (Jerry Ness) on August 25, 2021. Jerry passed away in his Poway home, with his 2 daughters by his side. Jerry was originally from Janesville, WI where he and his brother Ken built soap box racers and shared a paper delivery route. He went to work at Kresge Corporation which later became Kmart Corporation. During the Vietnam war he was drafted into the Army, after his time in the Army he went back to work for Kmart. He then moved to California in the 1970s. In 1985 he moved to Poway, CA which became his permanent home.

Jerry worked for the Kmart Corporation for 35 years (although his total time at Kmart was about 50 years) as a retail manager and after retiring, he went back to Kmart to work for several years stocking shelves. Jerry had many hobbies such as riding a Unicycle, camping with his daughters, and gambling. Jerry loved gambling at the local San Diego casinos in his retirement. Jerry was predeceased by: his parents Osman and Margaret Ness, his brother Richard, his sister Debra Case, and his brother-in-law Ray Case.

He is survived by his daughters Stacy Ness (Matthew Hall) of San Jose, CA; Kelly Ness-Walker (Christopher Walker) of Alpine, CA; his grandsons Bryce Walker and Brandon Walker; his niece Jenny Case of Janesville, WI; his aunt Beverly Liston of Janesville, WI ; and his brother Kenneth (Ken) Ness (Susan Ness) of Racine WI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery.
