Weathers
March 29, 1939 – February 14, 2025
An angel, our momma, our Mammie, also known as Kicking Bird, got her wings. She has struggled with her health since 2019. However, she took an irreversible turn. Sadly, she succumbed to her illness, and we lost her.
As a single mom, she began working at Pacific Southwest Airlines, putting in 17 years before she left to work at Buck Knives. She did the best she could, working hard to raise us. At times, things got rough, but she found her way.
As she was blessed with her first grandchild, Mam or Mammie became her given grandmother name, and to all who loved her, still call her now.
After all her kids were grown, she allowed herself to love and live life to the fullest. In 1990, she surprised us by getting her mortorcycle liscense and ultimately the bike of her dreams, a Harley Davidson Road King. With that, she earned her road name Kicking Bird.
She drove that bike with confidence. She pulled it in her fifth wheel, exploring wherever life would lead her. In retirement, she worked seasonally as a camp host around the country, cooking for hunters and playing her guitar around camp fires as she strumed to her own beat.
She was independent, self-sufficient, and a spiritual lover of all life creatures. Yet, however independent as she was, she will be remembered most for her kind, gentle spirit and for loving all of God's living creatures.
She was blessed with and survived by five children, Tanya, Lydia, Tira, Laura and Patrick. Nine grandchildren Jason, Joseph, Taya, Marlene, Laura Ann, Adrianna, Ashley, Sean and Jake and a handful of great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Michael T. Ojeda, her father Marvin S. McComas, her mother Ruby C. McComas and her brother, Marvin L. McComas. As hard as it is, we find some peace knowing she is now free from the binds of her illness and our Mammie, our Kicking Bird is flying around us, never to far away, reminding us she is always there with her loving spirit.
One thing we never said to each other was goodbye. We always said, "See ya later." So, as of now, our Mammie, our Kicking Bird, soars in peace. It's not good by, but see ya later, and as you rest in peace, keep finding your way, Momma.
We love you, Mammie!
