Gregg Kenneth
Brown Sr.
August 8, 1957 – January 5, 2025
Gregg Kenneth Brown Sr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on August 8, 1957, in Gloversville, New York, Gregg was the son of Alice Hammer and Richard Brown. He was a devoted brother to Laurie, Toni, Mark, Kurt, and Joel.
Gregg graduated from Delta Junction High School in 1975, where he participated in wrestling, basketball, and swimming. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Army in 1976, where he trained at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and specialized in satellite communications. He served honorably until 1979, attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class(SP5).
After his military service, Gregg pursued higher education at West Coast University, earning an engineering degree. His career as a Senior Test Engineer spanned an impressive 45 years, during which his dedication and expertise left a lasting impact.
Gregg married Cynthia (Cindy) Lawson after high school, and together they welcomed three sons: Gregg Jr., Scott, and Jason. Following his military career, Gregg moved to California, where his youngest son, Jason, was born. Though their paths eventually took different directions, Gregg and Cindy remained united in their edication to their children. Later, in 1997, he married the love of his life, Catherina (Trina) Silvestre. In 2010, he proudly adopted Mikaela, Bianca, and Dylan, whom he had cared for as his own from the moment they entered his life.
Gregg's passions were as vast as his love for his family. He was a true rock 'n' roll enthusiast who enjoyed playing guitar and sharing his love of music. A lifelong football fan, Gregg especially loved cheering for the Green Bay Packers, his favorite team. He also had a deep love for motorcycles and owned one while serving in the Army. After an accident in California, he ultimately had to give up riding, but he cherished the memories of taking his sons, Gregg Jr., Scott, and Jason, on short rides around the neighborhood when they were young. Gregg also loved photography, knowing it captured the memories and special moments he would cherish forever. Though he rarely had the chance to delve deeply into woodworking, it remained a cherished hobby. Gregg also loved to laugh, delighting in comedy shows that brought out his deep, rumbling, uniquely him, laughter, which could brighten any room.
Above all, Gregg will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his generosity, and his dedication to ensuring the well-being of those he cared about. He had a unique ability to make others feel valued and cherished.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Trina; his children, Gregg Jr., Scott, Jason, Mikaela, Bianca, and Dylan; and his siblings. His legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Services to honor Gregg's life will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary, 13243 Poway Road, Poway, CA 92064. A celebration of life will follow at Templars Hall at Old Poway Park.
