Greta E. Sandberg was born April 17, 1931, in Chicago to Swedish immigrant parents. Connections to Sweden would be important to Greta all her life, one that included love of friends and family, world travel with her husband Rick Sandberg, golf and her Lutheran faith. A graduate of Augustana College who worked for Ford Motor Co., Greta enjoyed driving (Fords especially) well into her '80s: she flew to North Carolina and then drove to Michigan just a few years ago. She lived for many years on a golf course in Rancho Bernardo and would stay up all night to watch overseas tournaments live. She and Rick traveled to dozens of countries, including Israel, and were especially fond of Hawaii. Greta had a wonderful sense of humor that delighted her friends. She will be missed by loved ones in California, Sweden and the Midwest. Greta will be laid to rest at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma alongside Rick.
