Harold Ernest
Eichler
March 23, 1933 – February 24, 2023
On Friday February 24th Harold ("Hal" or "Ike") Ernest Eichler made his fi nal entry in his general journal closing the book of his life here on earth and entering a new entry into life eternal. Blessed be his life, may his memory be eternal.
Born in Pender, Nebraska on March 23rd, 1933 he was the youngest of four children born to Richard F. Eichler and Martha Ida Kai (nee). His childhood was surrounded by family as his mother was the fi fth oldest of eighteen. His birth had him join a multitude of 88 fi rst cousins. Family was central throughout his life.
Harold began working at the age of eight in the barbershop, sweeping, polishing shoes, and cleaning the showers. He moved on to cleaning cream cans and working at the local sale barn. Summertimes were spent working on his uncles farms and eventually a relatives construction fi rm. A year after high school graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force working in the Finance Corps. During this time he was stationed in France during the Korean War.
Using his GI Bill he attended the Municipal University of Omaha (University of Nebraska at Omaha) earning his B.S. in Business Administration. Upon graduation from college he entered the world of accounting. While an accountant he worked for Peat Marwick, Honeywell, GELCO, and Data Card. His specialization was auditing and he rose to being a Controller and Vice-President requiring him to travel internationally. Of the seven continents of the world he visited or worked on six of them.
Though family and work were central to his life all he did was driven by his life and faith in Jesus Christ. His faith and participation in the life of the church was the central element of his life. He lived the words of Paul to the church in Colossae "And whatever you, do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him," (Collossians 3:17).
On March 29th, 1958 he married Phyllis Yvonne Renander. The date of their marriage is 34 years to the
day as his parents who were married March 29th, 1924. Phyllis unexpectedly passed away in August
1990. He is survived by Timothy (son) and Cynthia Eichler and Jann (daughter) and Brice Eichlersmith.
Grandchildren: Elizabeth ( Brendan), Rachel, Rebekah, Martha (Alex), and Tom (Remi).
In December 1991 he married Beverly Jean (Fanning) Edler of Yakima, Washington. Jean passed away in 2007. Upon his marriage to Jean he became a member of another large family with Jean's six children: Dave (Susie), Douglas, Dennis, Daniel (Tanna), Grace, and Dusty (Ti ff any). As of today there are 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
We give thanks and praise to our Lord and Savior for the life of Harold.
