Henry A.
Mcyat
February 27, 1940 – December 26, 2025
Henry Aglubat McYat, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 26, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on February 27, 1940, in Baguio City, Philippines, Henry was the beloved son of Melitona Aglubat and Mac Yat. He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Mac, and two infant siblings, George and Maria Rosario, and is survived by his sister, Agnes Mac Corpus.
Henry lived a life of hard work, selflessness, and devotion to his family. He graduated from St. Louis University High School in Baguio City and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Far Eastern University while working full-time at a food company to support himself as a student. A Certified Public Accountant, Henry worked at Associated Bank, where Henry met his wife Anita. He then worked at Consolidated bank as Manager in the Divisoria branch.
On December 30, 1971, Henry married Anita in Manila, Philippines. Together, they built a life rooted in love and faith. In search of a better future, the couple made the decision to immigrate to the United States on July 4, 1976. Once in the U.S., Henry began working for Pacific Bell before embarking on a successful 23-year career as a tax auditor for the City of Los Angeles.
Henry was deeply involved in his community and gave generously of his time and energy. He was an active member and Eucharistic Minister of the St Jane Francis de Chantal and St. Patrick's Churches in North Hollywood. He also served as President of the Filipino Association of St. Patrick's Church. Henry regularly volunteered and helped fundraise for the Church. He extended that fundraising and volunteering at his daughter's Notre Dame High School band events. He attended multiple Notre Dame High School football games and, subsequently, became a devoted fan of the University of Notre Dame football. Henry loved cheering on the team and sharing his passion for the sport with friends and family.
Outside of his professional and community life, Henry found great joy in spending time with his family. He cherished moments with his three granddaughters, Remy, Issa, and Zara Ally, often building paper planes and blowing up balloons together. He would sing "You are my Sunshine" to them when they were babies and, as they got older, loved listening to their stories and their music.
His greatest pride and joy was to see his daughter, Maryann, become a successful physician and devoted mother—a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance that Henry and Anita helped nurture.
Henry's kindness, humility, and devotion to his family and community will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Henry's life on January 8th at St. Michaels Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St Michaels Catholic Church in Henry's name. St. Michael's Catholic Parish
