Jacquelin (Jackie)
W. Port
March 21, 1938 – February 13, 2023
Jackie's family and friends, who are scattered all over this country and Canada, are mourning the loss of their amazing Mother, Grandmother, great Grandmother, and precious friend.
Jackie was born in Braintree, Massachusetts to Doris & Everett Wynot. She enjoyed an active youth participating in ice skating, cheerleading, and Rainbow girls, where she was the Worthy Advisor. She attended secretary school after high school. Jackie married her high school sweetheart Robert J. Port in 1959. Bob and Jackie moved to New Jersey and settled there to start their family. Their family was always their first priority. They would later move to Albuquerque, New Mexico and ultimately Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Jackie survived cancer, and Bob, his first heart attack. Unfortunately, Bob died of his second heart attack in 1983. Jackie moved to McLean, Virginia for a few short years and returned to Rancho Palos Verdes. She ultimately moved to Casa de Las Campanas for her last 8 years, where she passed away from kidney failure. She was in hospice care for two and a half weeks. Many friends and family had the opportunity to visit her and celebrate her life with her during that time.
Jackie is survived by her three children, Diane Mendoza (Robert), Barbara Kirchmeier (John), and Bob Port (Brenda), her six grandchildren Megan Kirchmeier-Young (Joseph), Erin Kirchmeier, Daniel Mendoza, Emily Mendoza-Golz (Michael), Erik Port, Conner Port, and her two great grandchildren Gage and Grant Young. She is known affectionately as 'Grandma Jack'. Jackie's priority in her life was to be a tremendous mother, and she extended her love of children to so many. She worked 12 years as a fifth-grade aide, and told funny stories of all the kids trying to give a book report on books they had not read. There are so many kids that can smile knowing that they came to her for advice and a kind, impartial ear to listen to their worries. Her humor, sarcasm, stubbornness, and honesty are familiar to all who have known her. She will be greatly missed.
Jackie did not have a favorite charity in life, but we felt that any organization that funds research for kidney disease would be fitting. Jackie did not know she had kidney disease until recently.
