John grew up at the Agostini Ranch in Lakeside with his sisters Joan, Sally, Suzy and brother Jim.  John's love of Disneyland and everything Mickey Mouse started at a young age with all the fun family trips to Disneyland.  John was a participant in Special Olympics and excelled in swimming.  After graduating from Grossmont High School he attended a day work program at Home of Guiding Hands, worked at Kaelin's Market and then John Towers Workshop for ARC of San Diego.

In 1999 his sister Joan made it possible for John to start at St. Madeleine's Sophie Center where John thrived because of the great programs and wonderful and caring staff.  In the art program he became an amazing artist specializing in painting women movie stars and his paintings were showcased several times as the featured artist at the Fashion Shows.

John enjoyed so many activities throughout his life like bowling, Polynesian dancing, square dancing and was very good at celebrity impressions and was always the life of the party.  John traveled the United States and went on several cruises with his parents.  John loved listening to all genres of music from current hits throughout the years to hip hop, opera, jazz, big band and classical music.  John was an excellent dancer and loved attending dances, family weddings and parties and everyone loved dancing with him.  John was close to his family but especially loved being Uncle John to his many nephews and nieces.  John had very strong faith and reverence for the Lord and he had peace in his final days because he knew he was going to heaven.

John will be remembered fondly for the truly unique person he was and he touched many lives.  We will continue to celebrate him and his life for years to come with memories and endearing Johnny stories.

John has requested in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to St. Madeleine's Sophie Center to support a special place for special people.
