Obituary

John Michael Agriesti, age 84, was born into Eternal Life on July 15, 2025, to join his beloved wife, Kay Agriesti. John was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He and Kay met while working at A&P Supermarket during high school. They married in 1961, quickly had 4 daughters, and built a wonderful life together. In June 1977, they packed a U-Haul with all their belongings, 4 girls and a dog and drove across country to start a new life in Northern California. In 1987, Lisa and Marco were married in San Diego and John & Kay decided to make one last big move to Southern California. They relocated to Poway/Rancho Bernardo where they lived for 38 wonderful years. They became very active parishioners at San Rafael Catholic Church. John proudly served the Knights of Columbus as the Faithful Navigator of Joseph T. O'Callahan Assembly #2652 from 2014-2015. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Valley of the Angels Council #9710. In the community, John served the Poway Sheriff's Station as a Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP) for many years and rose to the rank of SVP Administrator.

John was the loving father of four girls: Michelle (Richard) Grinsdale, Lisa (Marco) Tumbiolo, Nan Agriesti, and the late Kathy and John Johnson. He was the "Poppie" of five grandchildren: Nicole Agriesti, Anthony Tumbiolo, Brianna (David) Tumbiolo Velez, Kevan (Breanna) Giles, and Jennifer (the late Charlie Grinnell) Agriesti; and four great grandchildren: Olivia, Michael and Everlie Giles and Amadeo Velez. Dear brother of the late Joseph (Mary) Agriesti, the late Sue (William) Foss, Christina (the late Ralph) DeMatteo and Jerry (Marsha) Agriesti.Devoted brother-in-law of Jane (Jim) Peck, the late Nancy (Mark) Quinn, the late Margie Rubadue and the late Josephine Rubadue. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kay Agriesti, his parents Michael and Carmela Agriesti and his in-laws Harry and Margaret Rubadue.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at San Rafael Catholic Church (17252 Bernardo Center Dr., San Diego, CA  92128) at 10 am. All friends and family are invited to a reception in the church hall immediately following mass to Celebrate John's life. A private interment will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery where John will join Kay in their final earthly resting place.
