John Wayne Armstrong, of San Diego, CA died on January 19, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clarence and Frances Armstrong; and brother Nick Armstrong of Tuscaloosa, AL.  son John Scot Armstrong of Huntsville, AL.

Survivors include a son Mathew Armstrong and his wife Chelsea of Las Vegas NV;  daughter, Heather M. Armstrong of Huntsville, AL; a sister Lorraine Herring of Atlanta, GA.  He also is survived by seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Armstrong graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama In Tuscaloosa and was a lifelong Bama football fan. He served as an Ordinance officer in Vietnam in 1969-1970.  After his service he worked with Hughes Aircraft in Los Angeles. He was later hired by SAIC of San Diego and Huntsville, AL rising to the office of Corporate Director of Contracts. His career took him all over the world in the next 20 years. He retired and remained in San Diego.

In his last years he was loved and cared for by a devoted team of health care professionals. The family wishes to thank those devoted and dedicated people, Tanya Snyder, Rodney Clarin, Joseph Adeyemo, Marlon Santos, Evelyn Brown, and dear friend Chris Curtis.

Due to Covid precautions, a memorial will be held at a later date.
