Joseph Jesus Montanez, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born on August 24, 1950, in San Jose, California, Joseph dedicated his life to his family, community, and professional pursuits. He attended Bellarmine College Preparatory and subsequently pursued higher education at Santa Clara University, where he earned both his bachelor of science and master of science in mechanical engineering.

Joseph distinguished himself as a principal engineer at Northrop Grumman, where his 48 years of contributions were highly valued and respected. His passion for problem-solving and a deep desire to help others manifested in his remarkable ability to build and create with his hands. From undertaking challenging backyard projects to constructing submarines, Joseph possessed an impressive range of skills and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Joseph cherished spending time with his family and friends. His presence brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by his sons Joseph, Kenneth, Paul, and Daniel Montanez; his loving grandchildren Julian, Eric, Penn, and Rowan Montanez; and his caring nieces Athena Carrasco, Kelley Hayes, Jill Dose, Andrea Mathis, and Kira Kirkland. Joseph is preceded in death by his wife Katherine Montanez and granddaughter Lauren Montanez.
