EULOGY for Judith Ann Dunn

Judith Ann Rizzuto Dunn.  Her father was Italian and her mother French Canadian.  Not a bad combination.  Beautiful to look at with a little zest.  Kind of like a good meal.  You want it to look good, but you need something to give it flavor.  But as beautiful as she was on the outside, she was even more beautiful on the inside.  She was a very loving caring person, always wanted to do everything right and expected everyone else to do the same.

Her faith was especially important to her.  Sunday was church day and a day of rest.  Although raising 3 boys did not give her much chance to rest.  She was very devout saying the Rosery every day.  She loved watching the Catholic TV channel, EWTN, and liked reading Christian books.  She loved to browse in Christian bookstores and when we travelled, she was always looking for one.  She volunteered for many church activities.

Because of my job she was forced to move 11 times.  She spent the last 20 years in the same house here in Rancho Bernardo.  She was so tired of moving that when we came to California 20 years ago, she said my next move is going to be to Heaven.  I am sure that that is where she is now.

She experienced a lot of physical suffering throughout her life.  So much so that I used to tell her that I thought she was an Angle in training.  And you know what?  I just may be right.

In 2003 she developed Lymphoma.  It went into remission until it appeared in her eyes in 2017.  She went through a 3-month radiation treatment program in 2018 for the eyes, which had some serious side effects that took 6 months to resolve.  Then in 2019 the Lymphoma reappeared in her brain.  She went through an extremely aggressive chemo treatment program that required her to go into the hospital for 5 days every other week for 4 months.

Then in May of this year she collapsed, lost the strength in her legs, could not stand up without assistance and was hospitalized.  Realizing that the chemo treatment was not controlling the cancer they started her on a target drug treatment program.  It caused side effects requiring three separate blood transfusions.  She also developed a blood infection and a massive blood clot in her leg.

After several months of tests, they found that the Lymphoma has spread into her spinal fluid.  From there it spread into her Liver and Kidneys. She was receiving medicines 15 times a day and blood draws twice a week.  She could not move anywhere without assistance getting into a wheelchair.

Despite all of this, she never complained about why this was happening to her.  She would cry out for help when she had a pain, complained about having to take some of the medicines, did not like physical therapy. But remarkably never complained or questioned why this was happening to her

She never lost her faith in God.  She accepted God's will for her life without question and was thankful for everything she had.  In fact, it was her faith that carried her through, setting an example for us all.  A beautiful creation from God.  A wonderful wife and mother of her children, friend to all and a person that will be deeply missed.  Thank you, God for Judy's life, and for giving her to us.  Judy, I love you with all my heart.  Thank you for loving me and letting me be your husband .
