Karen Ann Gulotta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, gained her angel wings on August 24, 2024. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Mary and Darrell Allen on January 10, 1947, in Ypsilanti, MI, Karen met her future husband, Charles Gulotta, in Chicago, IL, in 1970. They married on September 25, 1971, and together they had two children: Todd Gulotta of Nixa, MO, and Amy (David) Martin of San Diego, CA.

Karen was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to six cherished grandchildren: Trevor, Derek, Adam, Breelyn, Elisse, and Shane. Her passion for gardening was evident in the beautiful roses she cultivated and the hummingbirds she lovingly cared for. Karen also had a special talent for decorating her home for all major holidays. She brought festive cheer to occasions like Christmas, and her vibrant St. Patrick's Day and Thanksgiving decorations were particularly beloved, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for her family and friends.

Her thoughtful nature shone through in every aspect of her life. Karen's meticulous touch was evident in her celebration card envelopes, decorated with stickers and personal flair. Her keen sense of fashion, always featuring a touch of bling, made her outfits uniquely stylish. Karen delighted in preparing treats like pecan pie and limoncello and had an enthusiasm for shopping that was only surpassed by her joy in giving. She had a unique gift for finding the perfect token or gift for her friends, ensuring each one was a heartfelt expression of her love and appreciation.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Darrell Allen. She is survived by her siblings: Carleen (John) Lenders, David (Cindy) Allen, Judy (Bruce) Edwards, and Gary Allen.

A memorial service will be held on September 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Poway, followed by a reception in the church meeting room hall.
