Liebrecht
November 18, 1952 – April 1, 2022
On April 1, 2022, Kurt passed away at UCSD Thornton Hospital with family by his side. Kurt fought a long and valiant battle against cancer and heart disease. His family is grateful for the many doctors that gave him the gift of time over the past several years.
Kurt was born in Ramsey, Minnesota. His parents were Waldemar Liebrecht and Mary O'Connor Liebrecht. Although Kurt was born in Minnesota, Libertyville, Illinois, was where he considered his childhood home to be. He graduated from Libertyville High school and then attended Northeastern Illinois University. Kurt moved to Salt Lake City and subsequently obtained his Master's Degree in Engineering and Physics from the University of Utah. He later moved to Southern California, making his home in San Diego. Kurt made his career working in the biomedical field for Baxter, Abbott, Medtronics, Accumetrics, Biosite, and Enigma Diagnostics. Kurt later founded Sigma Q. A. & Validation Services, where he served as its General Manager and Consultant.
Kurt was blessed to be part of a large (mostly) Irish family. He was one of 9 children - all with varying shades of red hair! He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marcia Liebrecht, brother Greg Liebrecht and nephew Michael Kodis. He is survived by his wife, Donna Brandon-Liebrecht, his four children, Kelly Liebrecht, Jessica (Shaun) Liebrecht Kremers, Kathryn Liebrecht, and Rachael Liebrecht, and six siblings, Maureen (Marc) Kodis, Jane (Dave) Durment, Theresa Brashear, Mark (DeeDee) Liebrecht, Timothy Liebrecht, and Amy (Jeff) Newton. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Sarah Liebrecht, Emma Liebrecht, Mykenzi Kremers, and Graham Kremers. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Brandon, and Sister-in-law Karen (Scott) Cahill. Kurt is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Andi, Shawn, Kayce, Renee, Nikki, Samantha, Brandon Liebrecht, Nathaniel, Timothy, Andrew, Cory, Susan, Nicholas, Megan, Taylor, and Brandon Cahill. Additionally, Kurt has a large extended family that extends from coast to coast. His family and many friends will greatly miss him.
There will be a celebration of life held for Kurt on July 9, 2022, at the Soledad Club in La Jolla, California. More details will be available soon.
