Leo Cree
Ziminsky
January 19, 1944 – November 2, 2024
Leo Cree Ziminsky, age 80 of Poway, California, passed away after a brief illness on November 2, 2024.
Leo was born on January 19, 1944, to parents Leo F and Eleanor Ziminsky in Westchester, NY. He attended Iona Prep School and went to college in New York City.
Leo moved to California and started working with Motorola as a Radio Communications Representative. Over 32 years with the company, he rose to become an Appointed Vice President of North America, Commercial Markets. Not only was he a talented leader, he was greatly loved by all who worked with him and for him.
In 2003 he retired from Motorola and spent his time volunteering with the Knights of Columbus at St. Gabriel Catholic Church as well as serving the needy in San Diego County.
Leo's greatest achievement by far was his family. He was a very proud and virtuous family man, amazing husband, and loving father. He taught his children by his example and showed them what it meant to work hard, stay faithful, be loyal, and put family first.
He loved to play tennis and golf, attend daily mass with his pals, and get bagels afterwards. He had a fantastic sense of humor with a great New York accent that all enjoyed.
Leo is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louise, children Phillip (Kim), Robert (Andrea), and Karyn (Andy), six grandchildren, Alex, Jason, Matthew, Mark, Alyssa, and Kaitlyn, and one great granddaughter, Nora.
Funeral services will be held November 13, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Poway. Burial will be at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.
In lieu of flowers, Leo requested donations be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital. www.stjude.org
