Leon Stanley Mellon passed away in his home on March 29, 2023.  He was 90 years old.  He was in a peaceful and serene environment, surrounded by family.

Leon was born in Wisconsin to Harvey and Helen Mellon in 1932.

After attending college with a football scholarship,  Leon proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  He was honorably discharged at the end of the Korean war.  He then began a career as a civil servant, working for the U.S. Government.  He retired as a foreman after 33 years of service.

Leon was an active member of several fraternal organizations, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Al Bahr Shrine.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and scuba diving.

Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Mellon; daughters and sons-in-law LeAnne & Jim, Laura & Wade, Noel & Kevin, and son and daughter-in-law Michael & Christina; 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Dustin, Dylan, Shane, Tana, Nicholas and Andrew; and 9 great-grandchildren, William, Sylvie, Ryland, Rio, Xavier, Cassidy, Haydn, Maisie and Lucas.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty and Jean.

Inurnment with military honors will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122.
