Leroy Robert Kovensky July 27, 1931-September 13, 2021

United States Air Force Major Leroy "Lee" Robert Kovensky (Retired), age 90, passed away peacefully at home in Poway, California on September 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Lee was born in Claysburg, Pennsylvania on July 27, 1931 to the late William Henry Kovensky and Elsie Helen (Jackman) Kovensky. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Helen, Julie, Bill, Mary Lou, John, and Joseph.

Lee joined the United States Air Force in 1950. While stationed in Waco, Texas, Lee met Mona, the love of his life. They were married on September 3, 1955 in the Chapel on James Connally Air Force Base. Lee proudly served in the Air Force for 20 years. During their life together, Lee and Mona traveled around and raised seven wonderful children. Lee and Mona were devoted to each other for 66 years and she followed him to Heaven four days after his passing.

Lee is survived by his sisters: Shirley, Betty, and Elaine, his children: Monica, Mary, Julie, Jeannie, Barbara, Stephen, and Laura, along with 16 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.

A joint viewing for Lee and Mona will be held at the Poway Bernardo Mortuary on October 8, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM, with a saying of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Joint funeral services will be held at Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church in Poway, CA on October 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Interment immediately to follow at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, California.
