Leslyn Ann Masterson, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis, passed away on May 6, 2025, in Poway CA.  She was seventy-two years old.  Leslyn was born January 19, 1953 in Portland, Maine.  She was the oldest of three daughters born to Norman and Joan Root.

She was a graduate of Morehead State College, Morehead, Kentucky, where she was a sister in the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.  Upon graduation, she was commissioned as a U.S. Army Officer, Ordinance Corps, and served at Fort McClellan, Alabama; Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland; Fort Carson, Colorado; and Presidio of San Francisco, California and earned the Army Commendation Medal for her exceptional performance.

Leslyn met her husband, Paul, while both where training at Fort McClellan.  They dated for two years before marrying on December 30, 1977 in Mariemont, Ohio.

Upon her separation from the military, Leslyn accepted a management position with Procter & Gamble in Green Bay, Wisconsin and became a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.

Leslyn and Paul subsequently accepted positions as Special Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  She had a distinguished career of over twenty years, serving in the San Diego Field Office, the San Francisco Field Office, and again in the San Diego Field Office, as well as temporary duty assignments across the country.   As a Special Agent, Leslyn worked a wide variety of investigations, including but not limited to: Narcotics, Bank Robbery, Fugitive, Counter Intelligence, and White Collar Crime. She was personally recognized by Director Louis Freeh for her outstanding work on a long-term Counter Intelligence investigation.

Leslyn is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Paul Masterson of Poway, California: her daughter and son-in-law Park Masterson Shogren and Thomas Shogren of Saint Paul, Minnesota; and sisters Debora Root of Batavia, Ohio and Karen Lacy of Cincinnati, Ohio.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and great aunt.
