Obituary

De passed away on April 23, 2024 in Rancho Bernardo, CA.  He was 95 years old.  De and his wife Jane had been married for 68 years.  In addition to his wife, De is survived by three sisters: Anita Ridley of Jerome, ID, Veda Weaver and Ferne Phillips both of Pocatello, ID and three brothers: Ray of La Mirada, CA, Lee and Edwin of Pocatello, ID.

De was born in Pocatello, Idaho and joined the Navy when he was 16.  After the Navy, he worked for McDonnell Douglas and was later hired at Continental Airlines in February 1962 by Joe Martina as Manager, Inventory Planning.  De retired from Continental in October 1985 as Senior Director Material Support and Maintenance Contracts.  He worked at Pacific Southwest Airlines as head of Purchasing and Stores until their merger with U.S. Air in 1988.  He then accepted a position as Vice President Purchasing, Facilities and Contract Administration with British Aerospace in Virginia.  De and Jane lived in Virginia until 1994 when they retired and moved back to their home in San Diego.

De ran the Robert F. Six Hawaii Golf Tournament on the island of Kauai for 48 years, which he called a "labor of love".  He was a long-standing member of the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Course, serving as President of the RB Social Club and the RB Men's Gold Club.  He also served for many years as Treasurer for the ARECA newsletter.

De's ashes were inurned at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego on May 13, 2024.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
