Marsha Ann
Gordon
Sep 24, 1948 — Jul 3, 2026
San Diego
Marsha Ann Gordon was peacefully ushered into heaven on July 3, 2026, with her family by her side.
Marsha, affectionately known as “Weiner,” was born on September 24, 1948, to her proud parents, Donald and Genevieve Ruppal. She was the third eldest of 11 children and was born and raised in Akron, Michigan, where she graduated from Akron-Fairgrove High School in 1966. That same year, she married Lee Gordon, and together they started a family, raising their son, Jim, and daughter, Diane. After raising her children, Marsha worked outside the home at Walbro Company and later with the United States Postal Service while living in Akron. In 1989, she and Lee moved to San Diego, California, to be closer to her children and continued her career with the USPS until her retirement in 2014.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee; her sisters, Nancy Stoll and Kimberly Ruppal; her brother, Donald Ruppal Jr.; and her son-in-law, Darrell Ledford. She is survived by her children, Jim (Tracy) Gordon and Diane Ledford; her siblings, Gary (Elaine) Ruppal, Rick Ruppal, Dick (Vicki) Ruppal, Connie Ruppal, Steve (Vicky) Ruppal, Dave Ruppal, and Jeff Ruppal. She was a proud grandmother to Jimmy (Brenda) Gordon and Holly Gordon, Carlee Zank, and Amy (Ramon) Ramirez, and a loving great-grandmother to Brayden Zank, Parker Zank, Marcus Ramirez, and Alexa Ramirez. She was also extremely close with numerous nieces and nephews who she treated like her own.
Marsha's family and friends meant everything to her. She made every effort to strengthen, nurture and maintain all her special and cherished relationships. From always having the greatest snack cupboard known to man for her grandchildren to the numerous Jimmy Buffet concerts she enjoyed with co-workers, Marsha's greatest joy was sharing time with family and friends.
Marsha's last 10 years were more challenging due to health conditions that required her to use full-time oxygen. Her courageous spirit was so inspiring as she continued to live her life independently, feisty and without a filter.
Marsha will be remembered for her laughter, generosity, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy is one of faith, family, kindness, and a selfless spirit that placed the needs of others before her own.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Marsha’s life is scheduled for August 12, 2026, 11:30 a.m. at Penasquitos Lutheran Church San Diego 92129, with a luncheon to follow. An additional memorial service is being planned in Michigan for the fall, with more details to follow. May her soul rest in God’s eternal peace.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Stjude.org
