Martha Dee
Sallenbach
October 30, 1942 – February 21, 2023
Martha Dee Sallenbach passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at her home in Poway, surrounded by her beloved husband and children, from complications of congestive heart failure. She was 80 years old. Dee (as she was known to her family and friends) was the heart and soul of her family, the first person to offer a kind word and a smile, and the one her family relied on to make things fun and special. She was talented and spunky and loved to laugh. She was full of amazing ideas and grand plans and a gift for making things beautiful. She was a woman of great faith who had a passion for genealogy and an enduring love for all her family.
Dee was born in St. Johns, Arizona on October 30, 1942, to Richard Stevens Davies and Corinne Cowley Davies. Dee's father was overseas fighting in World War II when she was born, so she was 3 years old when she first met him. She grew up in Phoenix and received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Brigham Young University. She taught high school for many years, and finished her career as a social worker for the County of San Diego. She served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one in Australia with her husband (2007-2009), and one as a family history customer support missionary for FamilySearch.org (2021-2022).
Dee is survived by her husband of 58 years, Howard Glenn Sallenbach, her son Todd (Denise) Sallenbach, and her daughter Tiffany (Robert) Burgoyne, as well as her five grandchildren Trevor, Ethan, Nora, Kevin, and Ryan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Stevens Davies and Corinne Cowley Davies, and her two brothers Robert Bruce Davies and Don Clark Davies.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (15705 Pomerado Road, Poway, CA 92064). Visitation and viewing will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that any donations in her name be made to Elizabeth Hospice ( elizabethhospice.org ).
