Martin Paul Kubik Jr. passed away in Poway, CA on November 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old. Marty, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Bridgeport, CT to Martin and Anna (Michalic) Kubik on August 12, 1936.
Marty graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959 until he was discharged in 1963. He earned an Associate's degree in Engineering from Bridgeport Engineering Institute and worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 35 years. He retired in 2004 from Omega Engineering in Stamford, CT after 25 dedicated years. He was a longtime resident of Stratford, CT and moved to Poway, CA four years ago to enjoy the warmth and sunshine. Marty was an excellent handyman and could fix almost anything. He loved gardening, woodworking and was an avid Lionel toy train enthusiast.
Marty was a dedicated father and his greatest passion was his family. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne (Wargo) Kubik of Poway, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Donald Funaro of North Haven, CT; son Mathew Kubik and Cristina Valente of Merrimack, NH; son Mark Kubik and John McGinnis of San Francisco, CA; daughter Mari Kubik and Joseph Lindsay of San Diego, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Edmund Ornowski of Stratford, CT; brother-in-law Michael Wargo of Sleepy Hollow, NY and grandchildren Rebecca, Donald and Abigail.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at 10:30 am on Monday November 19, 2018 at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary, 13243 Poway Road in Poway, CA. Interment will take place at a later date at Miramar National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
