Obituary

Mary Bahoshy

November 28, 1930 – July 16, 2020

Mary Margaret Bahoshy passed away suddenly on July 16, 2020 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Bernard J. Bahoshy.

Mary was born on November 28,1930 in the Bronx, NY. She was the eldest of seven children, born to Irish Catholic immigrants, William and Catherine Lee. Mary attended Hunter College in NYC where she met Bernie at a dance when he was studying at Fordham University. They raised four children: Robert, twins Patricia & Catherine, and Barbara.

Mary loved "change" - and indeed moved many times during her lifetime. Bernie's career took them from NYC to NJ, MA, DE, back to NY, and then to Tokyo, Honolulu, and retirement in San Diego. As a worldwide traveler, Mary's favorite place was still the hustle and bustle of NYC where "you could buy a sandwich on every street corner".

Mary was very creative and artistic.  She refinished furniture, sewed Easter outfits, made Barbie doll clothes. She wallpapered and decorated. She was the "handyman" around the house earning her the nickname "Charlie".  However, her greatest passion was painting. She painted well into her 80's and her artwork has been on local display. As a self described introvert, Mary enjoyed the company of other artsy people.

Mary's feisty, loving and independent spirit lives on in her four children, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Richard and William Lee. There will not be a funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date when COVID restrictions are lifted. A special thank you to her friends and staff at Casa de Las Campanas.

"A lovely young lady who's gifted with glamour.  Of all in her class, Mary Lee's the best crammer".

Rest in Peace Mom.
