Mary Ann Ogilvie (87) passed away peacefully at home at Sunrise Senior Living on Saturday July 21, 2018. During her last few months she touched many hearts as she was surrounded by loving caregivers, family and friends. Mary Ann was born January 30, 1931 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Frederick and Alma (Ely) Ogilvie.
After her retirement from Hoag Community Hospital in Newport Beach, Mary Ann moved to Rancho Bernardo where she was very active in the community and her beloved church. She served as a Deacon at Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Community Church and volunteered for many year at the church thrift shop. She was past President of the Rancho Bernardo Republican Women's Club. Mary Ann loved animals, especially her dog Molly and cat Mitzie. She also enjoyed gardening, playing card games such as bridge and canasta, and travelling. She treasured her international trips with friends from Oaks North.
She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren: Captain Gregory Ogilvie USN Ret. and Donna Ogilvie of Visalia, CA. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren Ian and Megan. She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Ogilvie in 1994.
A memorial service will be held at Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Community Church at 11 am Monday August 13, 2018 there will be a reception with the family afterwards. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the church at 17010 Pomerado Road, San Diego, CA 92128.
