Matthias Juri Jahl passed away at his home in Poway, California on January 7, 2024. Born December 11, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey to Viktor Johann Jahl and Hedwig Maria Jahl nee Schmidt, he was 60 years old.

Matthias graduated magna cum laude from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University Of Massachusetts - Amherst and went on to have a distinguished career as an analytical chemist for over three decades.

He loved the outdoors, including mountain biking and hiking. One of his greatest enjoyments was playing the French horn, which he started playing in the 4th grade. He played with the Palomar Symphony Orchestra in San Marcos, California for almost 20 years.

Surviving him is his loving wife Ai Tin Jahl of Poway, California; daughter Theresa Jahl; son Peter Jahl; brothers Thomas, Michael and Andreas.

A graveside service will be held at Dearborn Memorial Park, 14361 Tierra Bonita Road in Poway, California, at 1pm, Friday, January 12, 2024.
