Michael Patrick Flynn of Escondido died Oct. 16, 2018. He was 28.

He was born Dec. 20, 1989 in Chula Vista to Adriana Zendejas, who placed him with his parents, Patrick and Robin Flynn, nine days later through Catholic Charities.

Michael was a happy child with an incandescent smile and sly sense of humor. He played youth sports and video games and was a history buff. His nickname was Badger. He played the drums and guitar.

Michael loved good food and perhaps was never happier than when, on a family cruise, he discovered he could get unlimited roast beef and blue cheese sandwiches delivered around the clock.

Michael graduated from San Pasqual High School, where he played tennis and wrestled. He worked in food service, retail and catering.

Mike, as he asked his contemporaries to call him, loved animals, especially the family dogs he grew up with and his chihuahuas, Marley and Charlie, who were with him when he died.

Michael is survived by his parents; brother Joey Flynn, of Escondido; sister Isabella Flynn, of Oceanside; Adriana of Tecate, B.C., and the rest of his birth family; loving aunts and uncle; and many cousins and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday Nov. 5 at San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
