M. Ali Tabidian was born to Soghra and Hassan August 10, 1952 in Khorsghan, Esfahan, Iran. There he developed life long passions for learning, gardening and the outdoors. After earning a bachelor's degree at the University of Esfahan, he immigrated to the United States in 1976 to pursue a master's degree at Emporia State University in Kansas. There he met Pat, and they were married in 1980. His education continued with a second master's from the University of Kansas and then a PhD at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Along the way, he and Pat had daughter Mitra. The family left the Midwest and relocated to the Los Angeles area, where Dr. Tabidian pursued a career as a professor of Geology at CSUN. He retired to Poway, CA to be closer to his daughter, her husband Máirtín and his two lively grandsons Milo (7) and Finn (3). He spent his time in San Diego digging in the dirt, chasing his grandkids and harvesting his crops. He died 3/16/2020 at home with his wife and daughter alongside him after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by most all previously mentioned family members, also by five brothers Reza, Mansour, Mahmoud, Vali and Abbas among many other relatives in Iran and his mother-in-law Pat. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Esmat and brother Ahmed, and father-in-law Fred. He was a tough, loyal and loving man and will be missed by many.
Please do not send flowers at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date when we can all gather to celebrate his wonderful life.
