Nan Jean
Fischer
June 14, 1928 – June 8, 2024
Nan Jean (Myers) Fischer, 95, passed away peacefully in her Rancho Bernardo home on June 8, 2024. Nan was born on June 14, 1928 in Elgin, Illinois to parents Frank and Ethel Myers.
At the age of 20 Nan was married to her husband of 65 years, George Fischer and lovingly raised her six children in Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Bill Fischer, Mary Imel, Elizabeth Fischer, Fred Fischer, Jean Gordanier and Katie Lovas. She is survived by five of her children and 49 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nan was active all of her days. She played competitive tennis most of her adult life achieving a place in the Senior Nationals tournament. Another passion of Nan's was aerobic and in-line dancing. She was the recipient of the Jackie Sorenson Dance Award, one of only nine across the country. Nan believed that teaching dance was more of a ministry than athletic event. Oftentimes serving as a counselor providing emotional and spiritual support as well as physical relief from stress and anxiety, Nan was loved by all her students. In addition, Nan was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling across the country to elder hostiles connected to universities where they would study a variety of disciplines. Her favorite was literature. In her later years, she turned to audio books even enjoying her last one on her deathbed. Nan loved poetry and always had a poem to share reciting it from memory. Ever looking for something new to try, Nan took up piano lessons and Pilates with her youngest daughter well into her nineties. Although not one to preach, Nan was always willing to share her faith in God with her children and grandchildren as it was a pillar for her throughout her life. Nan gained a terrific sense of humor and was quick to laugh even joking while on her deathbed. May she Rest In Peace in the loving arms of her Savior.
