Nancy Catherine Douville, 89, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026 at Silvergate Rancho Bernardo Memory Care.
Nancy was born on April 27, 1937 in Sparta, Wisconsin, to LeRoy and Elna Newburg. She grew up with strong Midwestern roots that shaped her lifelong values of family, kindness and community. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and married the love of her life, Richard James Douville on June 14, 1958.
Nancy devoted her life to her family as a full-time mother, raising five children: Anne Marie, Lynne, Paul, Julie and Chris. She was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Brett, Bailey, Anna, Zoey and Kendall, and a great-grandmother to one great-granddaughter Brooklyn. Her home was the center of family life - especially during holidays and birthdays, which she made warm, joyful and memorable for everyone.
Nancy's strong Catholic faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in everything she did. She found great joy in dimple and meaningful pursuits. Nancy loved baking, sewing and quilting, and she was an active participant in book clubs and walking groups. She shared her love of music as a member of the San Rafael choir and gave her time generously as an elementary school reading aide and volunteer hospice companion. Known for her welcoming smile, generous heart and enduring friendships, Nancy left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11:00am at San Rafael Parish, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92128.
