Olga Antonietta
Cahill
October 18, 1938 – March 29, 2021
Olga "Ollie" Antonietta Gutierrez-Cahill graduated into God's Holy Kingdom on
March 29, 2021 at the age of 82 years old. Olga was born to the late Antonio and
Francisca Gutierrez in Laredo, Texas on October 18, 1938 where she grew up
attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and Ursuline Academy. In May
of 1960, Olga married John H. Cahill. Together they had six children as their
military career relocated the family to San Diego.
Olga was always a source of aid, comfort, and nurture. She continued her
education at Baptist Memorial School of Nursing in San Antonio, Texas, before
beginning her thirty-year nursing career. She was constantly relied upon by
physicians for her astute knowledge and exemplary patient care. After retiring from
nursing, she continued to offer helpful and on point medical advice to friends and
family who needed her throughout her life.
Olga always loved to dance. She was a trained flamenco dancer and became known
for dancing throughout her entire life. As a young lady, she would often drive her
siblings crazy by singing opera and playing with castanets around the house. She
worked hard and would often give her mom little surprises whenever she got paid.
She shared her daddy's love of working on cars, the Dallas Cowboys, and baseball.
Her final occupation was working at Petco Park for the San Diego Padres where
she loved watching her team play.
The loves of Olga's life are her six children, fifteen grandchildren, and eight great
grandchildren, as well as her animals. She will be remembered by them for her
strong faith in God, the values she instilled, and above all else, her love and
patience. Olga opened her heart to everyone, teaching love, compassion, and
loyalty while exemplifying strength, hard work, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her father, Antonio Gutierrez (1993), her mother,
Francisca Gutierrez (2011), her sister, Eliza C. Gutierrez-Hayes (2006) (Edward),
and by her husband John H. Cahill (1998). She is survived by her family including
her five siblings: Maria Guadalupe Eubank (Don), Antonio Gutierrez (Jaqueline),
Judith Jean Watts (Richard), Rogelio Gutierrez (Josie), and Thelma Issa Gibson
(Bill); and her five children: Robert Patrick, Mary Kathleen, Deldra Francis, John
Anthony, William Edward, and Patricia Ileen. Her legacy will live on with her
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and countless friends who
loved her dearly.
