Pamela Louise
Griffen
June 24, 1949 – June 19, 2025
Pamela Louise Griffen , 75, of Lemon Grove, California, passed away on June 19, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in San Diego on June 24th, 1949, and was the only daughter of Harry C. and Margaret L. Griffen who preceded her in death.
After graduating from Mount Miguel high school she went on to earn a degree in music from San Diego State University in1976. Later she also attended Indiana University and performed with the well known Robert Shaw Chorale. She served as choir director at a Santee church and at the North Island US Naval Air Station Chapel as well.
Pam was an avid aviator going on her first solo flight in 1981. She subsequently earned her pilot's certificate, her instrument rating, and FAA certificates as a commercial pilot and a flight instructor. This led her to have a profession as an Aviation Technical Writer from the mid 80's until her passing.
She was a world traveler and considered herself a "Bi-Poler" because she had visited both the North and South Poles. Over the years she traveled to many regions and countries including Papua New Guinea, the Far East, and Hong Kong to name a few. Her most recent trip in December was to the Amazon River.
Her heart was full of love for the cats she adopted over the years and they greatly enriched her life. She leaves behind her beloved Mischa. Any donations in her memory should be made to cat rescue organizations like Friends of Cats or The Rescue House.
Pam will be missed and remembered by many friends, neighbors, and work associates. In recent years she was affectionately considered the matriarch of the small neighborhood where she lived for many years. Hers was a life well lived.
Private services will be held.
