Ramona Genevieve (Tighe) Kovensky August 12, 1934-September 17, 2021

Ramona "Mona" Genevieve (Tighe) Kovensky, age 87, passed away peacefully at home in Poway, California on September 17, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Mona was born in Sioux City, Iowa on August 12, 1934 to the late Paul Alphonsus Tighe and Julia Estelle (Todd) Tighe. She was preceded in death by her siblings: John, Mary, Louis, Patricia, and Paul.

Mona was working in Waco, Texas when she met her future husband, Lee Kovensky. They were married on September 3, 1955 in the Chapel on James Connally Air Force Base. While Lee served in the Air Force, Mona stayed home and together, they raised seven wonderful children. Mona and Lee were devoted to each other for 66 years and Lee preceded her in death four days before her passing.

Mona is survived by her brothers: Richard, Mark, and Robert, her children: Monica, Mary, Julie, Jeannie, Barbara, Stephen, and Laura, along with 16 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.

A joint viewing for Mona and Lee will be held at the Poway Bernardo Mortuary on October 8, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM, with a saying of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Joint funeral services will be held at Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church in Poway, CA on October 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Interment immediately to follow at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, California.
