Obituary

Randy James Cass was born in Arcadia, California on May 18, 1948.  He passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack on May 30, 2025.  He died at home in the house he loved - just where he always said he would.

Professionally, Jim accomplished many things in his life.  He was proud to have graduated from San Diego State in 1971 with a B.A. in International Finance.  He went on to the University of South California, earning 2 Master's degrees in 1974, in Geography and Business.  Jim played minor league baseball and was called up to the Los Angeles Angels for a short time, until he was injured.  Then he became a West Coast manager for the Fuller Brush Company.

Jim's main career for over 40 years was mortgage banking.  He was the owner and CEO of several successful companies; he continued to work in the field, right up until his last day on earth.

He was an athlete all his life, excelling in football and baseball, but track and field was his passion.  He loved to run and did so all over this country.  It was difficult for him to stop running when he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2007, then developed heart issues in 2017, when he had to have a pacemaker implanted.  He still was extremely active, walking miles on the treadmill and doing hours of yard work.  He was proud of his beautifully landscaped property.

Jim leaves behind Michele, his wife of 38 years, his son Kevin, daughter-in-law Brooke, grandchildren Mason and Alexia, daughter Lindsey and fiancé Niko.

Jim grew up thinking he was an only child, but just last years through Lindsey's 23 and Me, he found he had 2 half-brothers from the same mother - both living in California!  A few months ago, he was able to meet his brother Lance and wife Wilhelmina, but didn't get the chance to meet brother James.

Jim will be remembered for his big heart and generosity.  He was the hardest working man, who never gave up, even though he faced much adveristy and struggles in his life.  He will be greatly missed by his family and all his friends ~ who were also his family.
