Richard Moores died peacefully in his sleep on September 29, 2018 at the age of 103.  He was born January 3, 1915 in Elmwood Place, Ohio.

He is survived by his loving wife of 80 years Virginia, their son Jeffrey and daughter Judith Reagan, granddaughter Jennifer (Reagan) Robinson and her two sons Kai and Lang.  He was predeceased by his brother Roland.

After his nearly forty year career as an aeronautical engineer at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut, Richard and Virginia moved to Rancho Bernardo in 1978.  They joined St. Michael's Parish, Poway where he was active as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Usher.  He was instrumental in forming and managing the Food Group at St. Michael's under the auspices of St. Vincent dePaul which collected and distributed food donations daily from local grocery stores to various  families and charities in the San Diego area.

He enjoyed gardening, raising fruit and vegetables and took great pride in his tomatoes, oranges and avocados.

He was an avid tennis player into his eighties and was active well into his mid-nineties.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at St. Michael's Church, 15546 Pomerado Rd, Poway, CA.  92064.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Church or St. Michael's Food Group in Poway.

The family would like to thank their dedicated caregivers, the staff of Hospice of the South Coast and his doctor who took such loving care of Richard.
