Richard Ronald Puehlhorn, 56, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 9, 2020 in Oceanside, CA, after complications stemming from surgery for an ischemic bowel.

There will be a Memorial Service on January 26 ^th , 2020 at 2:00 pm here at the Poway-Bernardo Mortuary.

Rick was born in Parsippany, NJ to Richard Joseph Puehlhorn and Dorothy Margaret Mellett Puehlhorn.  At age 11, he moved from the New Jersey cold out to sunny& warm California per his doctor's recommendation due to Reynaud's disease.  He stayed with his aunt & cousin in Claremont, where he went to school and was played Little League Baseball.  He was later joined by his mother & brothers the following year, and the family eventually settled in Poway, CA.   Rick graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, where he also played football and baseball.  He later followed his then girlfriend, Carol, to Huntington Beach, CA, where she worked in the music industry.  After 13 years together, they eventually wed, and were married for 26 years. Rick worked various odd jobs ranging from supermarket clerk, construction, landscaping, courier service, inventory clerk, customer service, and others.  But, he found freedom and happiness in working the last couple of years as an independent contractor delivery driver.

Rick had a warm smile and was easy to get along with.  He loved meeting new people and had a way of making everyone feel included.  He had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around.

Rick enjoyed playing & watching sports, listening to music, gardening, dogs, the beach, and spending time with his family.  His hobbies included putting music & video on his YouTube channel, and tye-dying.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Bojador Puehlhorn; his mother, Dorothy Puehlhorn; his father Richard Joseph Puehlhorn and his daughter, Elena Morris; his brother Craig and wife Mia and their daughter Mican;  his brother Douglas and wife Rossana and their children, Dayanara, Dylan, and Devyn; his Uncle Jim Mellett; his Aunt Marilyn Raines; his cousin Bruce Sakamoto and his 3 sons; and his cousins Joe Mellett & wife Zelma, and Laura Seiden; his in-laws, Carmita Bojador, Cynthia Irwin & husband Laurence and their children, Emma and husband Kyle, Eily, and Elissa; Percy Bojador, and Patrick Bojador and wife Alessondra and their children, Genevra, Harlan & Justin.

Rick was loved by all and he will be missed by all.  Rest in Peace Rick.
