Risa Roberta
Goldberg
October 29, 1944 – March 7, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Risa Goldberg, a creative and multi-talented sister, friend and professional on March 7th, 2025 at the age of 80. Risa was born on October 29,1944 in New Bedford, MA, to Julius and Clara (Calie) Goldberg.
Risa attended BU and received her Master's Degree from Simmons in Library Science. She worked as a librarian and teacher for several years and was an adventurous traveler. She was living in a Kibbutz in Israel during the 6 Day War and played music in Poland while touring with a professional dance company. She loved languages and studied many.
Risa was a Renaissance woman- a unique human with an independent spirit. She was a skilled musician who played piano, flute, accordion and recorder and could often times be found playing her spoons at any occasion. She loved dancing and regularly played music in a number of groups around the area. She was known in San Diego as Risa The Musical Clown where she performed at Balboa Park at children's birthday parties, fairs and other events entertaining kids with her music as well as with balloon animals and painting faces.
As an entrepreneur, Risa created and ran Simply Marvelous Organizing for over thirty years. She was not only interested in the task at hand, but her clients' overall needs and best interests. She believed in utilizing a model where a therapist, organizer and client all worked together in an efficient, creative and compassionate way.
Risa was a skilled writer and editor, whose work recently included her brother Harrison's latest book. She was also a published poet and an artist with a side business in creating humorous, personalized greeting cards for all occasions. One of Risa's great sources of joy and passion was her garden to which she devoted many hours. Her one plus acre property in Crest was a "garden place" with numerous "mini- environments" focusing on edibles and fruits, ornamentals and natural forest and native plants.
We would be remiss if we didn't mention Risa's enjoyment and skill playing any number of games including her favorite, Boggle!
She is survived by her brothers, Harrison Goldberg, Alan Goldberg and his wife Renee Hill, their children Sara Vatore and Noah Goldberg and grandchildren, Allister Vatore and Caleb Brechner.
She will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
Because of Risa's varied interests and passions, donations can be made to the organizations that you know were important to her. A celebration of her life will take place on Zoom. Please contact her brother Alan at Goldberg@Competitivedge.com for more information.
