Robert Len
Wittouck
June 15, 1945 – January 29, 2024
Robert Len Wittouck (Bob), a beacon of warmth and strength, departed this world on January 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born to Violet and Len Wittouck on June 15, 1945, Bob grew up in Southgate, California. His life was a symphony of adventure, passion, and deep faith.
As the eldest of three brothers – Robert, Michael, and James (Jimmy) – Bob's early years were shaped by his love for the great outdoors and his innate musical talent. From the towering peaks of Yosemite (which Bob affectionately referred to as God's country), to the serene beauty of the coastline, he found solace and inspiration in nature's embrace, a passion that defined his soul. His summers were marked by family trips to Yosemite, singing folk songs around the campfire, hiking to Vernal Falls, rafting the Merced River, and backpacking the high country.
Music, too, flowed through Bob's veins like a gentle stream, enriching his life and uplifting those around him. As a devoted member of the church choir throughout his adult life, he found joy and solace in the harmonies of praise and worship.
Bob's path crossed with that of his high school sweetheart, Carol, at Pious X High School in Downy, CA, where their love story began to unfold. Their union on June 24, 1967, was the beginning of a journey marked by love, devotion, and shared dreams. Together, they raised two daughters, Diane Michelle and Robin Noelle, instilling in them a love for the outdoors, an appreciation for music, and an unwavering commitment to family.
Bob pursued higher education at Loyola University in Westchester, California, where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was a proud member of the crew team, participated in ROTC, and lent his voice to the university choir. Graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Bob embarked on a fulfilling career, initially hired by Westinghouse.
In 1979, Bob and Carol relocated to San Diego, California, a city that captured their hearts and became their cherished home. Bob remained there until his passing.
Tragically, Bob experienced the loss of his beloved wife, Carol, in 1991, after 23 years of marriage. However, life brought him another chance at love, and he married Donna Botelho on August 3, 1996. Bob and Donna shared a devout Catholic faith, which sustained them through life's trials and tribulations. Their love and devotion to each other were evident in every aspect of their lives. They both shared a passion for travel, and especially enjoyed their annual skiing adventures in Tahoe, which brought them closer together amidst the beauty of the mountains. Bob's pride and enduring love for Donna was evident in his support and presence at events and functions at The School of the Madeleine, where Donna was principal. Their nearly 30 year union was a testament to the enduring power of love and companionship throughout their marriage, and could especially be seen in Donna's unwavering support of Bob in his final years with Alzheimer's disease.
An avid golfer, fisherman, and adventurer, Bob delighted in sharing these past-times with his grandchildren, imparting valuable lessons about patience, perseverance, and the beauty of the natural world. Together, they forged memories that will last a lifetime.
Bob's legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Mark, Sarah, and Adam Bobich, Brett, Eric, and Scott Pardo, who carry forward his spirit of adventure, his love of music, and his devotion to family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters, Diane (Jim) Bobich and Robin (Matt) Pardo; his cherished grandchildren, Mark, Sarah, and Adam Bobich, Brett, Eric, and Scott Pardo; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and kindness.
Though he may be physically absent, his spirit will forever resonate in the gentle rustle of leaves, the soaring melodies of the choir, and the laughter of loved ones gathered in remembrance.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 11am, Saturday, February 24, 2024. A rosary and eulogy will take place prior to mass at 10:15am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Bob's name to the Alzheimer's Association: Alzheimer's Association
For the children and the flowers are my sisters and my brothers,
their laughter and their loveliness would clear a cloudy day.
Like the music of the mountains and the colors of the rainbow,
they're a promise of the future and a blessing for today.
